Why Springdale?
Northwest Arkansas is a growing metropolitan area, and Springdale is in the heart of northwest Arkansas. It is located in northern Washington County and southern Benton County with Fayetteville to the south, Rogers and Bentonville to the north, and Siloam Springs to the west. Springdale has a population of over 85,000 people, and the city is growing every day. Springdale is a diverse city and a city for families. Springdale is a young city with nearly 70% of people under 45 years old. As a result, there are many schools and businesses. There are churches, but about half the people are unchurched altogether. Also, some churches in Springdale do not proclaim the true Gospel, and some churches are not reaching people. There is a need for a church in Springdale that preaches the Gospel and makes disciples of Jesus Christ.
Population and Growth
Population: 87,672 (U.S. Census estimate, July 2022); 84,161 (U.S. Census 2020). [1] Springdale is growing! New houses and neighborhoods are constantly being built to accommodate the new families moving to the city. Springdale is now the fourth most populous city in Arkansas. [2]
Demographics
According to the 2020 U.S. Census, the population was 51.2% white, 7.6% Pacific Islander, 3.4% black, 1.0% Native American, 2.8% Asian, and 19.7% from two or more ethnicities. A total of 38.8% of people considered themselves Hispanic or Latino. [1] (Note: People may consider themselves as multiple ethnicities, e.g. white and Hispanic). There is a large Hispanic population in Springdale with people originally from many countries in Latin America. There is also a significant population of people from the U.S. Marshall Islands.
According to the 2020 U.S. Census, Springdale has a young population with many families: 32.3% of the population was 19 years old or younger, 37.0% of the population was 20-44 years old, 21.1% of the population was 45-64 years old, and 9.5% of the population was 65 years old or older. This means that 69.3% of the population was under 45 years old. The median age of people in Springdale is 32.5 years old. [3]
Schools
Springdale School District had a total enrollment of 21,712 students for the 2023-2024 school year. This makes it the largest school district in Arkansas by enrollment. [4]
Springdale School District has a total of 31 public school campuses in and near Springdale including 1 pre-kindergarten, 18 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, 4 junior high schools, and 4 high schools. [5] Springdale High School and Har-ber High School are each among largest high schools in Arkansas.
Additionally, many students in Springdale attend private schools in the area or are home schooled.
Business
Many businesses are located in Springdale. Tyson Foods, Inc. has its world headquarters in Springdale with many employees. Other Springdale businesses also employ a large number of people including George’s, Inc.; Springdale Schools; Cargill, Inc.; and Northwest Health. Many other midsize and small businesses are located in Springdale. A new, state-of-the-art children’s hospital, Arkansas Children’s Northwest, opened in January 2018 and is located in Springdale. Also, the region’s minor league baseball team (AA), the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, plays their home games at Arvest Park in Springdale.
Churches
There are churches of nearly every Christian denomination in Springdale, but many people do not consider themselves as Christians and many do not go to church. Only 51.9% of people in Springdale consider themselves to be "religious." [6]
Northwest Arkansas has very few churches who fellowship with the American Baptist Association. An estimated 558,917 people live in Washington and Benton counties. [7] However, only 12 churches or mission works in these two counties associate with the American Baptist Association. These churches are preaching the Gospel and teaching the truth, but with the large number of people, churches of the American Baptist Association only have a small footprint in northwest Arkansas.
While there are professing Christians in Springdale, not all Christian groups proclaim the Gospel as the Bible proclaims it, and some churches are not reaching people as they could be. There is a need for a new church in Springdale that preaches the true Gospel message and reaches people to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
